Сигизбаев бесспорно путался в ранний период с националистами. Это не беда. Но отрицание этого факта Сигизбаевым характеризует его с плохой стороны. Если считаете нужным, можно попробовать предоставить Пленуму высказаться о нем. По крайней мере узнаем мнение пленума о Сигизбаеве, да и сам Сигизбаев будет вынужден в этом случае выявить себя. Но если Пленум не захочет его избрать, навязывать не следует. № 1563/ш–6/с.

Приехал Сегизбаев, я и Бельский с ним говорили, у нас впечатление, что до 24 года он с буржуазными националистами путался, хотя он этого признать не хочет, после 24 года он с ними порвал и связан не был, никаких материалов и показаний о таких связях нет. Отношение к нему здесь неважное отчасти потому, что он происходил из крупно-кулацкой семьи, а отчасти потому, что Икрамов всех против него настраивал. Я считал бы возможным его кандидатуру предложить для обсуждения Пленума или в секретари, или предсовнаркома, а он пусть расскажет о себе на Пленуме.
Прошу Вашего ответа, следует ли это делать.

Sigizbaev indisputably did get mixed up with nationalists in his early period. This is no disaster. However, Sigizbaev’s denial of this fact characterizes him from a bad angle. If you believe it necessary, you may try to have the Plenum express its opinion about him. At least we will learn the plenum’s opinion about Sigizbaev, and Sigizbaev himself will be forced in this event to show himself. However, if the Plenum does not want to choose him, they should not be forced. Nr. 1563/sh-6/s.

Segizbaev [sic] arrived, Belsky and I spoke with him, and we had the impression that up until 24 he was mixed up with bourgeois nationalists, although he doesn’t want to admit this, and after 24 he broke with them and was not connected with them, and there are no materials or testimonies of such connections. The attitude toward him here is poor in part because he comes from a substantial kulak family and in part because Ikramov has set everyone against him. I would consider it possible to propose his candidacy for discussion by the Plenum either for secretary or predsovnarkom [Council of People’s Commissars chairman], and then let him talk about himself at the Plenum.
I ask for your reply as to whether this should be done.
