3 января 1958 г. Московскую Соборную мечеть посетил иностранец – Селим Махмуд Касым, приехавший из Израиля, араб, мусульманин. Гость участвовал в пятничной молитве и прочел после молитвы выдержку из Корана.
После молитвы гость имел краткую беседу с Имам-Хатыбом Салиховым в присутствии членом Мотаваллиата.
Имам спросил о цели приезда, о том, где гость остановился. Кем является у себя на родине. на чем приехал. Гость отвечал, что прилетел на самолете с целью увидеть жизнь в Советском Союзе, остановился в гостинице "Советская" № 311. На родине он работает в издательстве журнала "Эль Эттехад".
Далее Имам спросил, как находит гость мечеть, Москву, проповедь имама. Гость отвечал, что он увидел полную свободу религии. Здесь, слушая проповедь, в которой говорилось о мире, дружбе, об установках Корана, он очень обрадовался. В Москве гость был в МГУ, ездил в метро, везде увидел бурное развитие и большие достижения, радостное настроение и бодрость.
На вопрос имама о положении мусульман в Израиле гость ответил, что он даже не хочет об этом говорить, ибо это дело политики. Мусульман арабов в Израиле около 200 т. человек. Он лично и мусульмане хотели бы присоединиться к арабам Египта.
Гость попросил на память экземпляр Корана. Имам отвечал, что ввиду отсутствия Корана в мечети, не может вручить гостю Коран немедленно, но ему доставят его в гостиницу.

После этого Имам просил передать привет мусульманам Израиля от мусульман Москвы.

The Imam asked about the purpose of the trip and about where the guests are staying. He asked about who the guest is in his homeland and how he got to Moscow. The guest answered that he flew on an airplane with the purpose of seeing life in the Soviet Union and is staying at a hotel called “Sovetskaya” No. 311. In his homeland he words at a publishing company for the magazine “El Ettihad.”
Furthermore, the Imam asked what the guest thinks of the mosque, Moscow, and the prophecy of the imam. The guest answered that he saw full freedom of religion. Here, while listening to the prophecy in which they talked about peace, friendship and about the establishment of the Quran, he became very happy. In Moscow the guest was at MGU, took the metro and saw tremendous progress and impressive accomplishments, a content overall disposition and vivacity.
To the Imam’s question about the position of Muslims in Israel, the guest replied that he does not even want to speak about this since it involves politics. There are about 200 thousand Muslim Arabs in Israel. He personally and the Muslims of Israel as well would like to unite with the Arabs of Egypt.
The guest asked for a copy of the Quran as a souvenir. The Imam answered that because there is no Quran in the mosque, he cannot give a copy of the Quran to the guest immediately, but they will deliver it to the hotel.

After that, the Imam asked the guest to send his regards to the Muslims of Israel from the Muslims of Moscow.
